Welcome
Welcome to my web site, dedicated to not only showcasing some of my new-found skills in web development, but also introducing you to the history of the NASA photography program. As I delve into this story during my dissertation research, this site will present interesting findings as well as analyize the importance of that program's product: the iconic images of the space age. Later, sections will be added to this web site to include information on my:
- Research questions
- Articles written
- Preliminary findings
Preliminary thoughts...
In researching the NASA photography program leading up to the landings on the Moon during Project Apollo, my early thoughts involve questions about the intersection of technology and culture as seen in Apollo photography, both the technology used for images and also the meaning of those images to various cultures. Also, how can a museum such as the National Air and Space Museum function as place to reinforce or question messages of images. In a broader sense, I'm wondering how spaceflight of last/first 50 years has changed popular conceptions of the Cosmos and our place in it.
